Steve Edge
Steve Edge is a construction contracts specialist with more than fifteen years of experience advising contractors, subcontractors and project owners on extension of time claims, contract administration, and delay analysis across a range of standard form contracts.
His work spans the full lifecycle of a construction project — from tender-stage risk allocation and programme strategy through to formal EOT claims, dispute avoidance and contract close-out. He has worked across civil engineering, commercial construction, infrastructure and fit-out sectors, and has advised on projects operating under NEC4, JCT, AS 4000 and NZS 3910 forms.
Steve developed a particular focus on weather-related delay after observing how consistently contractors underestimated the evidential burden of an adverse weather claim. The failure mode was rarely the weather itself — it was the absence of a systematic approach to records, notices and benchmarking. That insight shaped the analytical framework at the core of the Construction Weather platform.

Approach
Steve's view is that most weather EOT claims fail for procedural reasons rather than evidential ones: the weather happened, the impact was real, but the notice was late, the records were incomplete, or the analysis was not structured around the contract's specific entitlement wording. A claim built from fragments — site diary notes, app screenshots, an updated programme — is difficult to evaluate and easy to reject.
The remedy is not more sophisticated analysis at the claim stage. It is building the right evidence from the moment the risk appears: historical benchmarking at tender, trade-level forecasts during the works, timely contractual notices, and a structured record linking weather events to specific planned activities.
